This Privacy Policy explains what information The Automated Biz ("we") collects, how we use it, and your choices. We are committed to protecting your business and financial data and to being transparent about how it is handled.
Account info: your name and email when you sign up.
Business data you provide: sales, expenses, invoices, bank/card statements, inventory, payroll totals, and supplier information you enter or upload.
Connected financial account data: if you choose to link a bank or credit-card account, we receive your account and transaction information through Plaid (see Section 4) so we can import and categorize your transactions for you.
Usage info: basic technical data needed to run and secure the app.
We use your data solely to provide the Service — to store your records, generate your reports, categorize transactions, and produce price comparisons. We do not sell your data. We do not share your business data with other users.
To read invoices and statements and to categorize transactions, we send the relevant document or text to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) strictly to perform that task and return the result to you. We send only what's needed to perform the requested feature. We do not use your data to train AI models.
We use trusted providers to operate: Supabase (secure database & login), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (AI document reading), Plaid (secure bank & card account connections), and the U.S. BLS public data API (no personal data sent). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
If you choose to link a financial account, we use Plaid Inc. to securely connect to your bank or card provider and retrieve your account and transaction data on your behalf. You enter your bank credentials directly with Plaid — we never see or store your bank login. We use the data Plaid returns only to import, categorize, and report on your transactions inside the Service.
Plaid's collection and use of your information is governed by Plaid's own privacy policy, available at plaid.com/legal. By linking an account you also agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.
You can disconnect a linked account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at support@theautomatedbiz.com. Disconnecting stops any further data retrieval; you may also manage or revoke Plaid connections directly at my.plaid.com.
Your data is isolated to your account using database row-level security, so other users cannot see it. API keys and secrets are kept server-side, never exposed in the browser. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We keep your data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us; we will delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it by law.
You can access, correct, or delete data you've entered directly in the app, or contact us for help. Depending on where you live (e.g. California/CCPA, EU/GDPR), you may have additional rights — contact us to exercise them.
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this Policy; we'll post the new date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the update.
